Portrait or Personal Image - Scott Rubey

Scott Rubey has been photographing pristine landscapes and adventure sports for more than ten years. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he grew an early appetite for exploring the world around him. After climbing his first mountain at age 16, Scott built a copious resume of adventures that spanned much of the western United States. Realizing early on that words lent limited justice to the vistas he beheld, he began recording his unique visions through the lens.

A conservationist at heart, Scott hopes his images evoke the beauty and fragility of the amazing world in which we live. He has become all too familiar with the human impact on some of his favorite destinations. "For each image I capture, there is only one place on Earth that looks exactly that way," he says. "My purpose, each time I click the shutter, is to inspire an emotional response, and a desire to protect this one planet we've been given."

When he is not in the wilderness or working in his studio, Scott pursues a number of passions. Having earned a music degree from the University of Oregon, he has performed and recorded with a variety of musical groups throughout the Northwest. He is an experienced mountaineer, and has dabbled in skydiving, paragliding, and mountain biking.
